DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2019 Devotional – The Messiah Is Here written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi.

TOPIC: The Messiah Is Here

TEXT: Isaiah 9:1-7

KEY VERSE: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” – (Isaiah 9:6).

MESSAGE – DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2019 Devotional:

In a time of national distress and affliction, people usually look up for a saviour that would deliever and set them free from bondage and oppression. They may even seek for a revolution that would change political leadership so that tyrants and wicked rulers would be eased out of office. Similarly, in time of sorrow and despair, we should not fear but take comfort in the promise of God.

Our reading today contains the prophecy of Isaiah about a coming Deliverer, who shall lead God’s people into a life of joy, peace and a right relationship with God. This was at a time when Zebulun and Naptali, two northern tribes of Israel were hit hard by Assyrian invasion. The invaders devastated the land and brought untold suffering on the people.

DCLM Daily Manna 14 March 2019 Devotional – The Messiah Is Here by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

There was a real need for a messiah to remedy the situation. Isaiah’s prophecy therefore described the character of the expected Messiah. The prophecy maintained that in the darkness of Israel’s distress and affliction, the Child being born shall be a great light to the people. And of His kingdom, there shall be no end. It is eternal.

The world today is in darkness of sin and ungodliness. God has sent His Son Jesus Christ as the Saviour. He is the Child that was born and the Son that was given. He is the Light of the world and anyone who fails to accept His Lordship is in darkness and has deliberately spurned the love of God. Such individuals are still in darkness. That is not the desire and plan of God who desires all men to be saved and reflect His light in their lives.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Light repels darkness everytime and everywhere.

DCLM Daily Manna 20 June 2019 – The Enemy’s Strategy

DCLM Daily Manna 20 June 2019 – The Enemy’s Strategy, written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi.

TOPIC: The Enemy’s Strategy

TEXT: Matthew 10:16-33

KEY VERSE: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” – (Matthew 10:28).

DCLM Daily Manna 20 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

In 2005, a scholarly article outlined five strategies terror groups employ for a successful terror crusade. One and the most common strategy is ‘spreading fear for international effects’. Why do you hear of suicide bombing and other heart-shattering gruesome killings by terrorists? It is to create the waves of fear, to weaken the resolve of civil people and to make the war against terror a hard-to-win affair.

Preparing the mind of His sheep against marauding wolves, the Lord Jesus gave a glimpse of what to expect from persecutors in the last days. Persecutors will stop at nothing to threaten, beat, kill and maim those who believe in Christ for their faith. Some of these persecutions may even be hosted by family members or close kin; just as a surprise attack! But the Lord gave us an idea of what the most potent weapon of the enemy is, that is fear! The very aim of persecutors is to entrench fear into the heart of those suffering persecution and those who likely will.

When Stephen, the first martyr of the early church was stoned to death by the religious Jews in Acts Chapter 7, the news sent ripples of fear to practicing and would-be Christians. The persecutors were invariably sending a deterrent message to those who believed in Jesus and those who would want to. Thank God for the resolute commitment of early believers, who though persecuted for their faith, endured to the end and now serve as an encouragement to every Christian in every generation. DCLM Daily Manna 20 June 2019 by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

The persecution of believers in Christ Jesus is on the increase in many places today. We are to pray for those persecuted and provide needed succor where possible. When persecuted, we are to remember that Christ our Master has both tasted and suffered persecution. Thus, reacting the way He did will help us overcome. There might be need to escape a deadly attack from the enemy in order to preserve the truth. But no believer should ever renounce his faith because of the fear of the enemy.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The sting of terror is temporary, but God’s judgment is eternal.

DCLM Daily Manna 19 June 2019 – Vengeance Is His

DCLM Daily Manna 19 June 2019 – Vengeance Is His written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

TOPIC: Vengeance Is His

TEXT: Nahum 1:1-10

KEY VERSE: “God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” – (Nahum 1:2,3).

DCLM Daily Manna 19 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

A prince wielded so much power that his word was law and his father, the king, never had the courage to effectively stop him. His tyranny came to a head when he ordered the arrest and detention of a young man who was in a relationship with a beautiful girl he had interest in. Secretly, he ordered the execution of the young man, claiming that in his attempt to break jail, he took up arms against the guards and was shot. He almost got away with this murder until he died suddenly of a mysterious hailstone on the day he was getting married to the village beauty. His father also died that day.

The text under consideration shows that God is jealous and will never tolerate wickedness from anyone. Though He may be slow to anger, yet He will not allow evil men to go unpunished.

Today DCLM Daily Manna 19 June 2019 by Pastor Kumuyi

Imageries in the passage will conjure fear in the heart of any living being: “the Lord hath his way in the whirlwind; has his way in the storm; the clouds are the dust of his feet; he rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry; drinketh up all the rivers; mountains quake at him, and the hills melt; indignation; fierceness of his anger; his fury poured down like fire; the rocks are thrown down by him; darkness shall pursue his enemies; he shall destroy as stubble”. Many people shrug off such passages on the grounds that it was specific to other people. But they are wrong. All of God’s word is true in all ages, for all people. It is therefore, foolish to continue in acts of wickedness because judgment from God is delayed. God will not acquit the wicked, but reserves vengeance for His adversaries and wrath for His enemies.

Anyone who acts contrary to God’s word becomes His enemy. And upon such people hangs the sentence of death, unless they repent and turn from their evil ways.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: In the face of God’s anger, it is better to bend than to burn.

DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2019 – Simply Come Out, written Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

TOPIC: SIMPLY COME OUT

TEXT: Revelation 18:1-8

KEY VERSE: “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” – (Revelation 18:4).

DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2019 – MESSAGE:

Emergency services world over, colour code their warnings. Advice (Colour Blue): Update to keep the community informed. Watch and Act (Colour Yellow): Take action and protect yourself. Emergency Warning (Colour Red): Highest level of risk to life and property. With the pronouncement and announcement of judgment on Babylon, God has given the world a RED HOT Emergency Warning.

A glorious Angel proclaimed with a loud voice that Babylon is fallen and has become a den of abominable things. The evil influence of this world system represented by Babylon is shown by the length, breadth and depth of corruption and compromise it exerted on all nations, kings and merchants. In her self-deceit, she never foresaw the judgment coming from heaven for she said in her heart, “I sit a queen and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow”. Upon her came death, mourning, famine and a burning hell all in one day.

Today: DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2019 – Simply Come Out

To demonstrate God’s mercy, love and grace, however, another voice gave a warning call for His people to come out of her so as not to be partakers of her plagues.

Lot was warned to come out of Sodom so as not to perish in the overthrow of fire and brimstone. The children of Israel, in the wilderness, were warned to separate themselves from the tents of Korah, Dathan and their company not to be swallowed up by the earth. Today, Christ is sending the same warning to sinners out there to come out of the corruption and pollutions of this world and accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour in order to escape God’s wrath.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Sound the warning, sin is deadly.
