DCLM Daily Manna 3 June 2019 – No Speculation In Giving! written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi
Topic: No Speculation In Giving!
TEXT: Deuteronomy 15:1-12
KEY VERSE: “For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land” – (Deuteronomy 15:11).
DCLM Daily Manna 3 June 2019 – MESSAGE:
It is interesting to watch how many so called philanthropists go about their work of charity. When carefully examined, one will discover that these are very careful and calculating speculators who throw their seeds of charity in fields where they expect to reap many dividends. It is not uncommon to find many politicians set up charity organizations or embark on so-called empowerment programmes where they dole out financial grants. The truth is, there are genuine givers.
The Lord, in the text sets out a principle to guide the children of Israel in their acts of charity and support for the needy. The rich and the wealthy among them were to understand that their wealth should not just be for themselves. They were to always have the less privileged among them in mind and make provision to support them.
This is the same principle expected to guide Christians’ work of charity. The privileged believers must know that they have to make constant provision for the less privileged among them. This is what Christian communion is all about.
DCLM Daily Manna 3 June 2019
It is unchristian to expect undue interest from a personal loan given to a brother in need or turn him to become a puppet just because we have been of help to him. The principle also discourages laziness, idleness, indolence and over dependence on others for our daily needs. The Christian must display a high level of responsibility, discipline and thrift in seeking for his daily needs.
While the Christian does not make the hope of reward a motivating factor for helping his brother, his prosperity becomes liberal. God’s promise and principles remain unchanged, “The liberal soul shall be made fat…” (Proverbs 11:25). The Christian should therefore strive to do good to all men, especially to them that are of the household of faith.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Every good done shall be rewarded.

TODAY’S TOPIC: The Right Fruit
TEXT: Jeremiah 24:1-10
KEY VERSE: “What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes” – (Isaiah 5:4).
DCLM Daily Manna 27 June 2019 – MESSAGE:
Jean de la Bruyere, a French moralist who lived from 1645 -1696 said: “There exist some evils so terrible and some misfortunes so horrible that we dare not think of them… but if they happen to fall on us; we find ourselves stronger than we imagined we grapple with our ill luck, and behave better than we expected we should.”
In life, there are two sides to everything. There are good and bad; day and night; white and black; obedience and disobedience, etc.
In the passage today, the Bible talks about “good figs.” These were the exiles that were already in captivity. The “bad figs” were those who still remained in Jerusalem. There was a difference in the hearts of the two groups. The good figs would repent and return to the Lord.
The “bad figs”, however, would continue to walk after the desires of their own hearts. Those who were in captivity would come to understand that God can be found whenever a believer is located.
God is not confined to a particular land, nor is He bound to the ceremonies of any particular religious order or temple. He is omnipresent and who lives in the hearts of the obedient.
On the other hand, the bad figs of Jerusalem were trusting that God would not allow either Jerusalem or the temple to be destroyed. These figs would be scattered. Simply because they had escaped the first captivity did not mean that they would escape future raids on Judah by the Babylonians.
The good that would come from their trial and captivity would be their repentance. And in repenting, they would give birth to a repentant generation who would, in the future, restore the existence of Israel for the coming of the Messiah.
As believers, we must always strive to be good figs in the midst of bad ones. In doing so, we win the world for Christ.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Strive to be different… bear the right fruit!

TOPIC: Make It Manifest
TEXT: Matthew 10:1-15
KEY VERSE: “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” – (Matthew 10:7,8).
DCLM Daily Manna 26 June 2019 – MESSAGE:
In genetic science, a person’s DNA contains all the information needed to build his or her body. The DNA determines things such as eye colour, hair colour, height, and even the size of one’s nose! The DNA in the cells is responsible for physical attribute as well as many other traits. At birth, every human comes in 23 pairs of packages called chromosomes. These chromosomes are large bundles of tightly packed DNA. Both parents donate 23 chromosomes each, which pair up to give their child the full set of 23 chromosomes. So a child can either look like any of the parents or share the traits and attributes of both!
Having called and saved His disciples from the religious multitudes, Jesus transferred a measure of His supernatural power and anointing to them. He conferred the power to cast out devils, to heal all manner of sickness and diseases, they even had the power to raise the dead. Though these powers were as it were, latent, they were to become manifest as the disciples went out to preach the gospel.
DCLM Daily Manna 26 June 2019 – Make It Manifest, written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi
Thus, Peter, James, John and the rest of the apostles could do all that Jesus did, but they could not do it in the comfort of the Mount of Olives! They would have to go out to the lost sheep of the house of Israel to activate that conferred anointing.
As was with the early disciples, so it is true of us today. The moment we are saved from sin and cleansed, we receive the Spirit’s baptism, if we had sincerely desired and prayed for it after the second work of grace, sanctification. When the Holy Ghost comes during the initial baptism, He remains with us as we abide in Christ. Having now the DNA of God as it were, we begin to develop and exhibit those spiritual traits and gifts to do exploits for God. But just as nothing grows in the comfort zone, there is no way we can manifest those latent gifts and power of the Spirit, until we go to the lost sheep in our community.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A Spirit-filled person is like naked wire with high tension current.

TOPIC: A Balanced Diet
TEXT: Matthew 10:34-42
KEY VERSE: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” – (Matthew 10:34).
DCLM Daily Manna 25 June 2019 – MESSAGE:
Life is not always a bed of roses. Sometimes a man passes through grim experiences of life that sap his resilience beyond measure. At other times, life is simply “sweet,” too rosy to dismiss. In sum, life is a mixed grill of the good and the bad.
The Lord Jesus had been speaking to His disciples. He had shared with them eternal perspectives and then some mountain-top experience conferred power and authority on them. While they were basking in that excitement, He immediately proceeded to tell them of the grim reality that they would face and a possible backlash from those who lacked maturity and might turn from the faith.
Today’s religious people easily prefer sugarcoated messages which arouse their sensual dictates and massage their ego, than sound, biblical teaching and eternal exegesis with the capacity to build them up in the most holy faith. No wonder, healing, prosperity, and so-called dominion theology have seemingly relegated to the background, holiness, self-denial, and heaven. Mercifully, the foundation of God stands sure and those who mutilate, manipulate and twist the word of God for carnal considerations, do so to their own dire and eternal peril.
To maintain a mature Christian life that can usher us into God’s holy kingdom, we must have a balanced diet of every part of God’s commandment. No part of the word of God must be put aside as too hard, too simple or irrelevant. Hearing or teaching only the “sweeter” side of the gospel without accepting the sacrifices, consecration and the cross to bear is like feeding only on meals with a heavy sugar content without taking into consideration the possibility of one’s health being impaired eventually.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God’s Word must be readily received and humbly obeyed.
