MFM Daily Devotional 7th August 2020 – Are You Tried And Tested? by Pastor D. K. Olukoya

TODAY’S TOPIC: ARE YOU TRIED AND TESTED?

Memory Verse: Hosea 14:8 “Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.”

Motivational Quote: Whenever God speaks, he loads His words with power, decks it with honour and dignity and garnishes it with flavours that will keep you asking for more.

Prophetic Word: It is well with you.

Fire Scripture: Revelation 3:8-20

8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, [a]and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

10 Because you have kept [b]My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 [c]Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.

12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’

The Lukewarm Church
14 “And to the [d]angel of the church [e]of the Laodiceans write,

‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither [f]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.[g] Therefore be [h]zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

TODAY’S OUTLINE ON MFM DAILY DEVOTIONAL 7TH AUGUST 2020

What I want us to consider today is the fact that life is a school and that we write examinations from time to time. We all go through tests. Problems and challenges are compulsory examinations that we must write. There was a time that I had something to do and I employed three carpenters.

I told myself that I was going to give them a test to see who would eventually do the work, I asked them how much they needed to do the work. The first one said, N2, 500.00; the second one said N2, 500.00; and the third one, N2, 400.00. So I gave each one of them N3, 000.00. I wanted to know the honest one. Of course, two just said, “Thank you sir” and went away and never returned my balance.

Only one of them came back and said, “Sorry sir, there was a mistake, the money was supposed to be N2, 500.00, but there was an extra N500.00; so I have brought the excess back.” I decided that he would be the permanent worker. The others kept quiet and later started complaining that the one to whom I was giving jobs, was not good and that he was bad; he was this and that, whereas, they were the bad, unfaithful and undependable workers. In fact, they were thieves. MFM Daily Devotional 7th August 2020 by Pastor D. K. Olukoya

So, sometimes when you think you are being clever, you cannot be smarter than the devil. Are you the kind of person who borrows from people and decides not to pay back? Some people keep their money in the bank. At times, with N40,000.00 in their bank accounts they would be looking for somebody who would lend them N5,000.00. This is simply madness, because money has become an idol for such people.

They are the money minded believers who won’t say: “I want to keep it there to yield interest.” Which interest? when the Bible says, “Owe no man.”Are you tried and tested? You must acquire gold that has been tried in the fire!

HYMN: Come, let us anew our journey pursue

Come, let us anew our journey pursue,
Roll round with the year,
And never stand still till the Master appear,
His adorable will let us gladly fulfill,
And our talents improve,
By the patience of hope, and the labor of love,
By the patience of hope, and the labor of love.

Our life is a dream; our time, as a stream,
Glides swiftly away,
And the fugitive moment refuses to stay,
The arrow is flown, the moment is gone;
The millennial year
Rushes on to our view, and eternity’s here,
Rushes on to our view, and eternity’s here.

O that each in the day of His coming may say,
I have fought my way through;
I have finished the work Thou didst give me to do!
O that each from his Lord may receive the glad word,
Well and faithfully done!
Enter into My joy, and sit down on My throne!
Enter into My joy, and sit down on My throne!
