SPEAKING AGAINST WICKED ARROWS

Fire Scripture: Psalm 58:3 – 8

Today’s Outline:
There is a dangerous trend in these last days. Wicked arrows are flying here and there. Casualties are legion. Let me share just one example with you. I know a man who went to a party in a town in a West Africa country. He would have done himself a lot of good had he stayed at home to pray with his wife and children. He did not do this; rather, he went to the party and sat down. When he was served food, his was the last to be served.

However, as his food was put on the table, he suddenly saw, from the corner of his eyes, a snake crawling towards him from the same house where his food was brought. He tried to run. But the more he tried, the more his legs were glued to the ground and he couldn’t scream too. His heart was beating fast, as the snake came crawling to his table. No one else, except him, saw the snake.

The snake climbed up and coiled itself round his body and finally spit some poison into the man’s mouth and then crawled back into the house again. It was only then that he opened his eyes and regained consciousness. The question is, who sent him there? If he had stayed at home, he would have avoided the misfortune.

Psalm 91 spoke of “the arrows that fly by day” and “the destructions that wasteth by night”, seeking whom to devour. If then you just keep roaming about and you are the unserious kind of believer who will go and be serving rice at unbelievers’ parties, or even sweat to cook the food for them, when the arrows are flying about, you will be easily located and then problems will come.

The lesson we ought to learn in today’s passage is that the enemy does not just fire empty arrows. Their arrows are laced with poisonous substances. Poisons are used by the enemy to steal, kill and destroy. Beware!

Memory Verse:
Ecclesiastes 10:11“Surely the serpent will bite without enchantment; and a babbler is no better.”
Motivational Quote
Divine favour will ignore your short comings and overlook your mistakes.
Prophetic Word
Every power that does not want you to have peace shall die, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN – O God of Bethel

1.  O God of Bethel, by whose hand
Thy people still are fed
Who through this weary pilgrimage
Hast all our fathers led

2. Our vows, our prayers we now present
Before Thy throne of grace
God of our fathers, be the God,
Of their succeeding race.

3. Through each perplexing path of life
Our wand’ring footsteps guide;
Give us, each day, our daily bread,
And raiment fit provide.

4.  O spread thy covering wings around,
Till all our wand’rings cease,
And at our Father’s loved abode
Our soul arrive in peace

5. Such blessings from Thy gracious hand
Our humble prayers implore
And Thou shalt be our chosen God,
And portion evermore
