TOPIC: MAKE A CHOICE
TEXT: John 6: 67-71(KJV)
6:67. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
6:68. Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
6:69. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
6:70. Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
6:71. He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
Anglican Daily Fountain 13th February 2024 STUDY:
Today is Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, when Lent begins. It is observed in many Christian churches by participation in confession and absolution in preparation for the beginning of Lent. In our text, we find Jesus asking the twelve if they wanted to also leave as the disciples that had done so the previous day. Peer answered that they were going nowhere because He has the words of eternal life and that they had come to believe and know that He is the Chris, the Son of God. Jesus informed them that although He chose them, one of them was of the devil.
Our world is full of choices. The Christian life has to do with making a choice, moment by moment and day by day. You make a choice to become a Christian or a follower of Christ and you also make a choice to abide in Him. Jesus confronted His twelve disciples to make a choice of going away or staying with Him. Peter made the correct choice that they would stay with Him who had words of eternal life and also the Son of the living God. Have you made the choice of becoming a disciple of Christ? If you have not, make it today! Receive Jesus into your life (John 1: 12-13).
PRAYER: Lord, help me to choose Jesus now and always.
