ANGLICAN DAILY FOUNTAIN 16 DECEMBER 2021 DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: RISE UP

TEXT: Micah 7:8-10(NKJV)
8. Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The LORD [will be] a light to me.
9. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, Because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case And executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness.
10. Then [she who is] my enemy will see, And shame will cover her who said to me, “Where is the LORD your God?” My eyes will see her; Now she will be trampled down Like mud in the streets.

Anglican Daily Fountain Today | STUDY:

As she sobbed, I could hear her saying: “I know why this is happening to me.” A particular sickness had come upon her, and she felt convinced it was the punishment she was getting for being involved in an incestuous relationship with her brother. That particular counseling session was difficult even for me. Sin, of course, has devastating consequences and we all should steer clear of it. However, it is not altogether a hopeless case for one who has fallen.

There is forgiveness with God; if we confess, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us (1Jn. 1:9). This is why the enemy’s rejoicing is premature: “When I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me “(v.8). Have you fallen? Rise up in confession and genuine repentance and God will forgive you. You are not a complete failure because you mistakenly fell; but you will be if you remain down. You can find forgiveness and receive strength and grace to continue.

Even if you have sat in darkness, allow the Lord to be a light to you now. He is ever willing to aid you. This is why the enemy of your soul must not rejoice over you. Be encouraged; God will plead your case and execute justice for you (v.9).
