TOPIC: JESUS SAVES

TEXT: John 5: 1-9(KJV)
5:1. After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
5:2. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

5:3. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
5:4. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5:5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
5:6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

5:7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
5:8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
5:9. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Anglican Daily Fountain 1st February 2024 STUDY:

In our text for today, we see Jesus going to the Bethesda pool in Jerusalem. In the vicinity of the pool lay many people with different health challenges, waiting for the moving of the water by an angel, in order to be healed as the first entrant into the troubled water. When Jesus saw a man who had been sick for 38 years lying there, He asked him if he wanted to get well. After the man complained that he had nobody to help him enter the pool at the right time, Jesus commanded him to rise up, take his bed and walk. The man was healed immediately and he took his bed and went away on that Sabbath day.

Jesus showed love, care and concern to the sick man although he could not answer His question correctly. Jesus heals because He was anointed by God to do good and to heal all who are oppressed by the devil (Acts 10: 38). Do you have a spiritual or physical sickness? Jesus can heal you today! He can set you free from that sickness or bondage. Call on Him today and receive your healing (Jer. 33: 3).

PRAYER: Abba Father, heal me spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially in Jesus’ name.
