Anglican Daily Fountain 20th February 2024 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: TRUST THE LORD

TEXT: Psalm 56: 1-13(KJV)
56:1. Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
56:2. Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
56:3. What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
56:4. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
56:5. Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

56:6. They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
56:7. Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
56:8. Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
56:9. When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
56:10. In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

56:11. In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
56:12. Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
56:13. For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

Anglican Daily Fountain 20th February 2024 STUDY:

The Psalmist asks for God’s mercy because of his enemies who fight against him, think evil plans for him, lie in wait for his life, and hound him all day. He knows that because God is forhim, when he prays to God, his enemies go away. He has decided to trust in God when he is afraid so that he will be bold to render praises unto Him. He will also praise God for delivering him from death to be alive in the land of the living.

As long as one is alive, there will be different types of enemies that will confront one. Some enemies are seen while some others are unseen. The Bible reveals that our real enemies are not human but principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in heavenly places (Eph. 6: 12). Therefore, we need spiritual weapons that will pull down strongholds and cast down anything that exalts itself against God’s knowledge (2 Cor. 10: 4-5). Are there forces of darkness disturbing you, your family, business, in your office, in your compound, or from your village? Put your trust in God as you put on the whole armour of God. He will fight your battles and give you victory.

PRAYER: Great and powerful God, help me to trust You at all times.
