Anglican Daily Fountain 25th February 2024 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: GOD IS OUR HELP

TEXT: Psalm 33: 17-21(KJV)
33:17. An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
33:18. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
33:19. To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
33:20. Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
33:21. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

Anglican Daily Fountain 25th February 2024 STUDY:

The Psalmist states that a horse cannot provide safety or deliverance. At the same time, he is sure that God watches over those who fear Him and hope in His mercy. God delivers His people from death, protects them from famine, and helps and shields them. God’s people shall rejoice because they trust in Him, and will experience His mercy because they hope in Him.

In a world full of wars, diseases, climate change, environmental disasters, corruption, scammers, ritual killers, sexual immorality, increasing population and high poverty rates, it is acceptable that men will need help. In countries with poor leadership, people will need both help and hope. However, in difficult times, some people seek help at the wrong places like going to native doctors, false prophets, prayer houses, and cult groups for protection, promotion or provision.

Are you one of those Christians who patronise such unholy people when you have personal challenges? Remember that we are in the last days (2 Tim. 3: 1-5). God is the help and hope of all Christians. Make God your refuge, strength and a present help when there is trouble (Psa. 46: 1). Call upon Him today for your deliverance (Psa. 50: 15). Will you do so today?

PRAYER: Help me, O God, to trust and rely on Your help now and always, Amen.
