Anglican Daily Fountain 26th February 2024 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: RESTORE US, O LORD

TEXT: Psalm 60: 1-12(KJV)
60:1. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
60:2. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
60:3. Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
60:4. Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
60:5. That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

60:6. God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
60:7. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
60:8. Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
60:9. Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
60:10. Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
60:11. Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
60:12. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Anglican Daily Fountain 26th February 2024 STUDY:

David says in this Psalm that God is not happy with His people but he prays for restoration. The people were confused but God gave them a banner of truth for their deliverance. God speaks in holiness and rejoices because the earth is the Lord’s and all its fullness (Psa. 24:1). David wondered who will lead him to fight in Edom and quickly realises that it is God, who seems to have rejected them. However, he prays that God will give them help from trouble as the help of man is useless. He is very confident that through God, victory will be won over their enemies.

When a relationship has broken down and things are not going well, there is need for a restoration of peace so that normalcy would return. How is your relationship with the Lord? Is it strong and intimate or has it broken down or is it even non-existent? Let us ask God to revive and restore us in every area of our Christian life such as Bible study, prayer life, worship, evangelism, giving, hospitality, etc. How is your relationship with your wife or husband? Ask God for help today and He will surely restore you.

PRAYER: Precious Father, I look unto You for help to restore my relationship with you and others in Jesus’ name. Amen.
