Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: WRONG OR RIGHT REASONS

TEXT: John 4: 43-45(KJV)
4:43. Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
4:44. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
4:45. Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

Anglican Daily Fountain 30th January 2024 STUDY:

Jesus entered Galilee after two days of fruitful ministry in the Samaritan village where many people believed His word. Though He knew that He would not be honoured in His own country, Jesus still went. But the Galileans were happy to have Him in their midst. Therefore, they honoured and welcomed Him-not because they recognised Him as the Saviour of the world, but as a miracle worker.

Many people honour, believe and receive Christ for the same wrong reasons-for miracles and material blessings! However, Jesus did not come to give temporal material blessings we could wish for. He often meets us at our points of need, but that is just the beginning. His miracles are supposed to lead us into a deeper relationship with Him.. He wants us to honour, believe and receive Him as the Christ, the Son of God, so that we might have eternal life.

What reasons do you have for believing in Christ? If the reasons are wrong, then you are a heartbeat away from eternal condemnation. But you don’t need to go to hell! Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ-the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world and you will be saved.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to go beyond the shallow Galilean faith, to believe and receive you as Lord and Saviour, Amen
