Catholic Daily Devotional Today 1 March 2022 | New Month Devotional
Today’s Catholic Daily Devotional for Tuesday 1st March 2022
TODAY’S TOPIC: WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?
SCRIPTURE: We have given up everything and followed you. – Mark 10:28
MESSAGE: Catholic Daily Devotional Today 1 March 2022
Sometimes I find myself asking, “Why should I spend more time in service for the Church? What’s in it for me?” As if my relationship with God were transactional rather than loving and intimate. If my relationship with God were about trust and love, would I count the cost? Would I not be willing and prepared to give everything and not ask for more, or why?
Peter says something to Jesus that we may sometimes find ourselves saying aloud, or in the safety of our hearts when life doesn’t give us what we think we deserve. Peter implies, after all we have done, what do we get for all our troubles and sacrifice? What about us? Where is our reward?
Yet what would it be like to experience our discipleship as truly free-falling into love without knowing what lies ahead? The cost might be steep, but we will discover that the promise of God’s love is all we have ever needed.
Lord Jesus, we pray for perseverance. – Vivian Amu
