Message: Catholic Daily Devotional Today 13 February 2022

What does it mean to “hope in the Lord,” to put all my trust in the Lord? Let me answer first by emphasizing what it does not represent. To hope in the Lord does not suggest that I shouldn’t tell God what’s in my heart, my specific petitions. My Father in heaven wants me to be real and genuine with him. Neither does it mean the opposite, that those who hope in the Lord will get everything they ask for in prayer.

We are blessed when our hope is in the Lord and we approach prayer with an open heart, full of confident trust in God and his care for us. We are confident, not because we know he will do what we ask, but because no matter what happens, it will be okay. God redeems all things, transforms all things. With him, we have nothing to fear.
