Daily Guide 10 May 2022 | Scripture Union Outline

Peter ends his letter by focusing on some specific characteristics and attitudes required of: 1. Christian Leaders: Good and effective leaders care for their members willingly and eagerly. They ensure that their lifestyle set good patterns for their followers. There are certain characteristics they should avoid. Make a list of these from vs.2‐3. There is good reward for their labour (see vs.1,4). 2.

Young people: All who are not in leadership position need to note Peter’s counsel in v.5. The lack of submission to authority and pride have led many immature Christians to start their own mini‐denominations and Christian fellowships. By failing to learn from elders, they fail to grow. Unfortunately, many leaders provoke these rebellions by acting contrary to Peter’s advice in v.3a. 3.

All Christians: Our battle with the devil is a daily affair (v.9). The weapons he uses against us include anxiety (v.7), lack of self‐control (v.8), doubt (v.9a) and persecution (v.9b). His aim is to make us ineffective Christians. There are some specific things we must do to resist him (vs.7‐9a) and God will faithfully play His part (vs.7b,10).

Closing Prayer
• May your victory, dear Lord, be my daily experience in my battle against the devil.
