Scripture Union Daily Guide 13th March 2022 Devotional | Outline
A true Christian man said, he had his own last beatitude: “blessed are those who have nothing to hide; for they shall not be found out” (see v.2). We need to be true to God and to ourselves everywhere we are and at any time. Never be hypocrites. Therefore, to live to please Christ, we must be careful about the subtle and the gradual influence of the “Pharisees”, and the people we regularly interact with.
The negative ones can really influence you to turn away from honouring Christ with the choices you make and the decisions you take in your day‐to‐day living. We are to be wary of negative people and negative influences (v.1). Someone has said there are 365 “don’t fear” in the Bible. One for each day of the year? Jesus teaches us things we should not fear and why. Take note of what believers are not to fear. Read vs.4‐7 again.
It is encouraging to read the reasons the Lord Jesus gives for “don’t fear!” The believers’ eternal security and place is in heaven and no evil treatment leading to death will change it. In addition, the believer is assured of the Holy Spirit’s presence and support in tough and challenging situations. Will we trust God for these? You blaspheme against the Holy Spirit (v.10) when you deny the clear work He is doing in the world and ascribe it to Satan or human beings.
