OPENING PRAYER: Lord, I pray that you lead me into your truth as I meditate on your word in Jesus name.

• What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Take a moment and think through what about you best describes who you are? The true measure of life and a person’s true worth is in the quality of his relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ. But a person who ignores God and is self‐sufficient thinks it is all about working hard and expanding his business. We must give utmost regard to God who alone gives us the ability to make wealth (see Deuteronomy 8:18).
Sadly, many people give too much regard to possessions as what defines a person’s identity and measure of life. Jesus rejects that kind of thinking (see vs.20‐21). We must not be fools. We should give the highest regard to the One who has control over our souls.
Practice/Word Application
And so? The rich man had laid up only earthly treasure for himself. He was not rich towards God. What actions will you take to ensure that you are rich towards God? See Matthew 25:34‐40.
