Topic: True Worship Of The Lord

Opening Prayer: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?

The psalm reminds us from the onset that the Lord established the world. All who live in the world belong to Him. The Lord demands that all who belong to Him should worship Him. The story of Moses and Pharaoh clearly shows this. The Lord wanted the Israelites freed so that they could worship Him. Notice the requirements for anyone who desires to approach God’s presence to worship and fellowship with Him (v.4,6) and the result (v.5).

The Temple was built on Mount Zion, hence the use of ‘ascend’ to describe entry into it to worship God. Clean hands and pure heart refer to purity of life and heart in our relationship with the Lord and our neighbours. These two aspects are what Jesus emphasized when he summarized the Ten Commandments as loving God whole heartedly and loving our neighbour.

Vs.7‐10 show that the whole psalm might have been written at the time the Ark was brought to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:12‐19). The victorious King of glory, who delivered the Israelites from Egypt and led them through the wilderness, had a great reception into the Holy City. But see Revelation 3:20.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Dear Lord, may my life be a true worship to you.

Prayer for the week
• Pray for our prodigal sons and daughters that God will bring them back home in one piece. Believe God that they will come back to their senses and long to come back home. Pray against their destruction while away from home.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Psalms 57:3; 2 Samuel 8‐10, Matthew 17
