Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any command for me to obey?

Message | Daily Guide 23 April 2022 | Scripture Union Devotional

God blesses Noah and his sons and gave a command he had previously given to Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:28). It is as though He was recreating the world after bringing the first sinful creation to an end. What does this scripture tell us about a couple’s decision not to have children (1 Timothy 4:1‐3)? Also, same sex marriages? In v.2 we see God telling Noah and his children that all living creation would be under his command and would have the fear of humans.

This scripture also gives human beings meat as food. Would we be correct to teach vegetarianism as a Christian doctrine (v.3)? Notice the seriousness with which God teaches the sanctity of human life (v.6). Note down what you see as reasons for God doing that. This should also teach us the importance of respect and love we should have for one another (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:38‐39).

God’s unsolicited covenant with creation (vs.8‐17) seems to assure Noah not to be afraid to populate the earth for fear of another flood. Each rainy season would bring fear of another destruction. ‘Not so!’, assures God, and He puts a rainbow in the sky as an assurance to people that even though rain approaches, it will not destroy all mankind as in Noah’s generation.

Practice/Word Application
Thought: Reflect on Genesis 1:28. Are human beings taking responsibility for creation correctly?

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Thank you, Father, for remaining faithful to your covenant.

Prayer for the week
• Pray for our unemployed youths, that God will remember them for good. Pray for humility among them to get skilled and be willing to start small. Pray against every spirit of discouragement and thinking that God has abandoned them.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Isaiah 55:12; Judges 1, 2, 1Corinthians 1
