Read and Meditate on Today’s Scripture Union Daily Guide for Friday 2nd June 2022. May the Lord bless you through His Word, Amen!

SCRIPTURE UNION DAILY GUIDE 2 JUNE 2022 DEVOTIONAL

Topic: Live At Peace With All Men

Opening Prayer: Grant me depth of insight, revelation and knowledge as I meditate on this passage, O Lord.

Scripture: Genesis 21: 22‐34

Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Read v.22 again. How does Abimelech’s remark about Abraham challenge us? The patriarch here demonstrated Christ’s teaching that we are the light of the world and are to bring glory to our heavenly Father by the way we live (Matthew 5:14&16). How do we conduct ourselves in the midst of unbelievers? Do our actions challenge unbelieving colleagues to ask why we are different?

Would your neighbours recognize God’s power at work in your life and perhaps be saved? Paul says, “You ?. are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” (2 Corinthians 3:3, NIV). Abraham accepted his status as stranger in the land of the Philistines and made a peace pact with Abimelech so they can always live together in peace with each other (vs.23‐24).

As children of God, we should not be the cause of crises in our society. Like Abraham, we are strangers and ambassadors in a foreign land (this world). Thus, we are not to court trouble but always endeavour to be peacemakers (Romans 12:17‐18).

Practice/Word Application
So What? A life of faith in Christ will always produce good works, but good works will never produce faith in Christ Jesus that leads to salvation.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• My God, please use me to draw men to you.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
Psalms 31:16; 1 Chronicles 12, 13; Mark 2

PRAYER OF SALVATIONA MINUTE PRAYER COULD SAVE YOU “O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead. I believe He’s alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I’m born again. Thank you Lord for saving my soul! I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!” Congratulations! You are Born Again... Get closer to God by reading your BIBLE and worshiping with other believers.
