DCLM Daily Manna 13 March 2019 – Rebellion Leads To Captivity written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi TOPIC: Rebellion Leads To Captivity TEXT: Isaiah 8:1-8 KEY VERSE: “For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria” – (Isaiah 8:4). A male lecturer in one of the higher institutions in West Africa was alleged to have made immoral overtures to one of his female students in exchange for a change of her grades. The report went viral on social media which made the management of the institution set up a probe panel on the allegation. After a thorough investigation in which both parties were invited, the lecturer was summarily dismissed and brought to shame, having been found culpable of the allegation. DCLM Daily Manna 13 March 2019 – Rebellion Leads To Captivity In our text, God spoke to Prophet Isaiah concerning the captivity that would soon befall Israel and its confederates – Syria and Samaria. He went in unto a prophetess who bore a son whom the Lord requested that his name be called Mahershalalhashbaz. The Lord spoke to Isaiah that before the child would grow up and have the knowledge of converse, the land would be invaded and their riches and glory taken away. Isaiah was further told by the Lord that the confederates would be overrun and taken into captivity because of their rebellion and refusal to stay within God’s provisions for them in Shiloah and for confederacy against Judah. The word of God stands firm against rebellion and in fact, categories it alongside the sin of witchcraft. When a nation, family or an individual rebels against God’s word, the end is usually devastating. The sinner may possess riches and seem to be having a nice time now, but as soon as the cup of judgment is full, he ends up in captivity both in time and eternity. DCLM Daily Manna 13 March 2019 – Rebellion Leads To Captivity In order to escape the looming calamity, the sinner must repent from all sins and turn to Christ, the Saviour of the world. The believer must shun all forms of concord or agreement with the world and evil doers. Only then can we escape the judgment to come. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Though hand join in hand, the sinner shall not go unpunished. DAILY BIBLE READING: Numbers 16-18 Thanks for reading DCLM Daily Manna 13 March 2019 written by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi.
