Everyone wants to be free, but true freedom is a lot more than simply being free to do whatever one chooses to do. I think that true freedom is more internal than external. All of my circumstances may be happy ones, and yet I would still be in terrible bondage if my soul was tormented with guilt, shame, jealousy, resentment, and other things that make people miserable.
Jesus came to make us truly free. He came to do a great and wonderful work inside of us, one that can never be taken away from us. Ask yourself today if there is anything in your mind, will, or emotions that is keeping you in bondage, and if there is, I urge you to ask Jesus today to teach you how you can be free from it through His Word and Spirit.
Prayer of the Day: Lord Jesus, free my soul from the tormenting chains of bondage. Teach me to embrace true freedom through Your Word and the Holy Spirit, amen.
