You are reading Today’s MFM Daily Devotional 4th March 2021 Thursday Message written by Pastor D. K. Olukoya to inspire and bless you. May the Lord bless and prosper you in Jesus name, Amen.

TODAY’S TOPIC: THE LIFE OF PRAYER (II)

Memory Verse: Acts 6:4- “But we will continue to devote ourselves steadfastly to prayer and the ministry of the Word.”
Motivational Quote: No one can do great things without great prayers.

Prophetic Word: The Lord will arise and make your captivities captives, in the name of Jesus.

Fire Scripture: Acts 6: 1 – 4
Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists,[a] because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.

2 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.

3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;

4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

Today’s Outline: MFM Daily Devotional 4th March 2021 Thursday Message

Prayer is, for the most part, an untapped resource, an unexplored continent where untold treasure remains to be unearthed. Now, what is prayer? Prayer is the servicing of our relationship with our heavenly Father through the communication of our value and worship for Him as well as our thoughts and desires to Him. A renown Christian writer said that the great tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer.

Instead of prayer to be something we do everyday, like breathing, eating and walking and talking, it seems to have become like that little glass covered box on the wall that says, “Break in case of emergency.” It is true that so very often we associate prayer with crises in our lives. Paul was somebody who understood prayer and its power. Prayer was a part of his life, and admonished that it would be a part of the life of every Christian.

You cannot really be a good Christian and not pray, just like you cannot have a good marriage if you don’t talk to your wife. Prayer is the pipeline of communication between God and those who love Him. David was a man of great exploits in the Bible. He killed Goliath and took the reproach off Israel when the Philistines engaged Israel in a battle.

According to theologians, David fought sixty-six battles and lost none. Through the power of worship, he cast out the evil spirit that tormented King Saul. He was a king, prophet, psalmist, warrior, war general, etc. What was the secret of such great exploits? Prayer was.

Apart from being a worshipper, David also prayed in the morning, noon and night. As a result of such lifestyle of prayer, he conquered both the lion and the bear; he was able to carry food (baby goat) from the mouths of lions and they could do nothing. His secret was: “Three times a day,” no matter how tight the schedule is, I must pray. Morning, noon and evening I must go before God.” That was the secret of his exceptional life.

Beloved, prayer is the secret of great exploits. No one can do great things without great prayers. Pay the price to prevail with God at the place of prayer like David. Make prayer your daily habit and exercise; then you will experience great exploits in life.

HYMN: Spirit divine, attend our prayer

1. Spirit divine, attend our pray’r,
And make our heart Thy home;
Descend with all Thy gracious pow’r;
Come, Holy Spirit, come.

2. Come as the light! to us reveal
The truth we long to know;
Reveal the narrow path of right,
The way of duty show.

3. Come as the fire and purge our hearts
Like sacrificial flame,
Till our whole souls an off’ring be
In love’s redeeming name.

4. Come as the wind, O Breath of God!
O Pentecostal grace!
Come, make Thy great salvation known,
Wide as the human race.
