MFM Devotional for 14 August 2022 Sunday Outline

The heart of man is the control room and the engine of the body, even our words, thoughts and actions. Just as the heart pumps blood into the body system to make it work, in the same way, it generates clean thoughts, words and actions. In a word, the heart is the source of all we think, say and do. More than any scientific study, the Bible is complete above all human fields of study. The word of God says it all.

A strong warning by the Preacher in today’s memory verse tells us to guard our hearts. This is a divine command to protect not just our heart but the entire body from satanic invasion and control. A well guarded heart shall issue out clean thoughts as stated in the book of Phil. 4:8. It will lead you to speak edifying words to yourself and to others as written in Col.4:6.

Definitely, with all these in place, your conduct as a Christian would fall in line with divine expectations. Dearly beloved in Christ, we cannot serve God with a deceptive heart, because He knows what is in the heart of men. I mean you speak holy words and act holy, but your thoughts are dirty and selfish. Remember, no other person can know what is on the mind of his fellow human being, but God sees and knows it all. You cannot deceive God!

Sometimes it happens by chance, at other times, circumstances propel people to behave or talk the way they do. Even at that, it is because you have not disciplined your heart. I mean, you have not put it under the control of the Holy Ghost who is able to move beyond your human ability to make you think right, talk and behave responsibly as it befits a child of God. The bottom line, beloved, put your heart into God’s hand. Let the mind of Christ be in you, (Phil 2:5); every other thing shall fall into place.
