Fire Scripture: Matthew 14:25-31

Easy-to-Read Version
25 Between three and six o’clock in the morning, Jesus’ followers were still in the boat. Jesus came to them. He was walking on the water. 26 When they saw him walking on the water, it scared them. “It’s a ghost!” they said, screaming in fear.

27 But Jesus quickly spoke to them. He said, “Don’t worry! It’s me! Don’t be afraid.”

28 Peter said, “Lord, if that is really you, tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 Jesus said, “Come, Peter.”

Then Peter left the boat and walked on the water to Jesus. 30 But while Peter was walking on the water, he saw the wind and the waves. He was afraid and began sinking into the water. He shouted, “Lord, save me!”

31 Then Jesus caught Peter with his hand. He said, “Your faith is small. Why did you doubt?”

Praise & Worship

Yesterday we started by looking at the reasons why people fear.

The third reason why people fear is death. Some people are so afraid of death that they hardly sleep at night. As Job said in Job 3:25, “For the things which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.” The fear of death is tormenting such people.

The spirit of death is pursuing many people even in their sleep. Beloved, remember the promise of God in Psalm 91:16 which says, “With long life will I satisfy him and show him, my salvation.” God promised you long life; claim the promise and defeat the fear of death.

Also claim the promise of sound mind that God promised you in 2 Timothy 1:7. The fear of failure is another fear that people have entangled themselves with. This fear can hold you back from living your best life if you entertain it. Why should you fear when you have Jesus? He has promised us that though we pass through fire, it will not consume us. He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world. You cannot fail because the Bible says that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Fear of failure will hold you back from taking positive actions and make you a procrastinator. Beloved, do not allow this fear to take control of your life. Get rid of failure. Take divine and positive action with prayers, believing God that He is ever sufficient for you. Just trust in the Lord who is more than able to save and deliver you.

With Jesus Christ in the boat of your life, you will land safely at the shore of your life’s journey, no matter the storm that may rage against you. Just trust and obey the Lord. Realise that you have the Almighty as your Father. He has never failed and He will never fail.

Fear of failure will not allow you to take a concrete step towards achieving greater heights. It will keep you at the tail level. Rise up and take action today. Allow God to lead you and success will be yours, in Jesus’ Name.
