THE NEED FOR AN ANCHOR IN TIMES LIKE THESE (4)
THE ARMOUR OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: GOD’S DEFENSIVE MECHANISM FOR BELIEVERS.
Memory Verse: ” Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed,
By the WORD OF TRUTH, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left.” 2 Cor 6:3, 7

Righteousness does not only exalt a nation ( Prov.14:34) it also exalts and preserves an individual and those who put their trust in God.
David was able to demobilize Saul despite all the state security architecture that was put in place to track and trap him. With all these measures, we rather see David rising up to the challenge of the hour and being in a position to KILL those who wanted him killed but for heaven’s restraining Power. Brethren! God can fight our enemies by causing them to sleep off at the hour when the battle is fiercest. 1 Sam 24:2-11
Surely, the arm of flesh will fail those who rise up against you but those whose trust is in the Lord shall be defended! God will fight for you. 2Chron. 32:7-8
THE SURVIVAL OF THE RIGHTEOUS. Ps.23:1-6; 27:1-6. Eph 6:14; Phil. 1:11-12.
No doubt, David was a righteous man. Even before he became the king and when he eventually ascended the throne of Israel, he never lost any of his numerous battles apart from the battle of the flesh in the matter of Bathsheba and the subsequent murder of Uriah. BEWARE!!
We can only remain firm, wage war against the storms of life, dethrone conflicting voices and emerge strong when we put on the whole armour of God. Preferring Him to any other substitute or powers that be. No matter the raging storms of life, the seeming destructive threats etc, as long as we make righteousness our garment and refuse to bow down to the plans of Haman, pray in the midst of the decree stopping us from praying ( as in the days of Daniel), continue to dig the well for our cattle despite the Esek and Sitnah experiences etc the truth remains that we shall subdue, dominate and overcome. It is not in our culture to surrender or give up. Not at all. We have an anchor that keeps us going. Righteousness is the defensive and sustaining key in disastrous times like these.
Hymn 336. Precious memories.
