Today’s Topic: You Lack One Thing

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.

Scripture: Mark 10:17-31

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?
• Q 5: Is there any warning for me to heed?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 1 March 2023

Read carefully vs.17-22. The rich young man sought to know how he could inherit eternal life. He felt he had kept all the commandments since his childhood days.

In spite of his best efforts, however, there was something missing in the life of the rich man (vs.21-22). What do you take from the guidance Jesus gave the young man? One lesson is for us to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of the less fortunate. The man however, felt deeply disappointed in Christ’s answers. He went away with a sorrowful heart.

Do you feel a void in your life despite all your wealth and religious activities? Only Christ Jesus can satisfy our innermost need.

From vs.23-27 what are some of the hindrances which wealth can cause to make a human find it hard to draw near to God? Note from vs.28-31 that following Christ does not mean that one would suffer poverty (a matter of priority – Matthew 6:33). What are some of the rewards mentioned in these verses?

Practice/Word Application
What Next? Re-examine your relationship with Christ Jesus. Are you following Him closely? Read Acts 10:1-5

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Draw me nearer to you, Lord Jesus.
