Daily Guide Devotional For Today 11th June 2024 (Tuesday)

Do You Know That? Daily Guide Reading is published by Scripture Union Press & Books Ltd, an arm of Scripture Union Nigeria. Daily Guide is a true nondenominational, interdenominational Christian Bible engagement/reading aid – meditate on the Bible without denominational colorations. May the Lord bless you as you study!

OPENING PRAYER: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 11 June 2024 Outline:

Youths are curious in everything in which they get involved. Aaron’s sons watched their father perform his first duty successfully and they felt there could be other means to achieve same results with creativity. It was a costly mistake at last because they did that which directly contravened the Lord’s clear command. The fire on the altar must never go out (see 6:9, 12). No other strange fire from anywhere was needed or required on the altar or for incense burning. God did not spare Aaron’s sons for this mistake. See how many times “you will die” appeared in this passage alone. Our God is a consuming fire and familiarity with Him must never breed contempt.

Read v.3 again. God displays His holiness through those who come near Him. He displays His glory before all the people. This calls for special prayers and constant intercession for our spiritual leaders. They are the first to bear the brunt of whatever sin their people commit. What a painful situation in which Aaron found himself. He would have lost the other two sons too because they burnt what they should have eaten (vs.16-20). Moses’ intercession and appropriate corrections saved further disasters. The work of a mentor and leader hardly ever ends. We must constantly pray for the emerging servant leaders so they will follow God’s specific instructions without fail.

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Take time to pray for leaders in the Church and our nations that they may serve as leaders and mentors for emerging leaders.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 40:13
“Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.”
