• Q4: Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 11 March 2024

When we remain (abide) in Christ, it means that we are connected to Him, like branches to the tree. Thus, His life flows through us and produces fruits in us (vs.2,8). Read vs.9-11,14&16 again. Take note of some evidence which show that we are truly abiding in Christ.

Notice how Jesus demonstrated His love for us in v.13. Though Christ’s love for us is unconditional, He however expects us to extend the same kind of love that we have received to other believers (v.12). Love is like a bell that we ring to invite people into the church. Love was pivotal to the growth of the early church (Acts 2:44-47) and remains the mark of true disciples of Christ (John 13:34-35; 1 Corinthians 13:1-13).

How do you feel as you read v.15? The obedience that Christ demands from us is that of friends not slaves. Friends love each other and always want to do that which makes each other happy. As His friends, Jesus expects that we understand His will and secrets, and so, obeying Him should not be difficult for us.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Oh Lord, grant me the grace to love others as you love me.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 37:38 ‐ 37: 39 ‐ 40
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

• His great power, Fatherly love, care, provisions and interventions.
• God’s visitation and manifestation of his power in our different challenges: fruits of the womb for waiting couples; marriage partners for matured singles; comfort, help and provision for the bereaved\/widows\/widowers; gainful employment for job seekers; business ideas and breakthroughs for brethren in business; admissions for students; healings and deliverance for the sick and oppressed; peace for troubled hearts and families; financial provisions and protection for all brethren; encouragement and strength for all to endure to the end and be saved.

• Weariness, doubts, depression and discouragement as we wait on the Lord in prayers and praise without wavering.
