OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I request that you help me to encounter you as I meditate on your word.

In his general Epistle, John exclaimed in amazement the kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, “that we should be called children of God” (1 John 3:1). This is what Jesus has done for us, sharing His Father’s love for us in its fullness, so that we have direct access into His holy presence.
On the contrary, only the High Priest could approach the mercy seat in Old Testament period, and that only once a year. But now, Jesus gives us the authority of direct entry to the Father’s throne room, and we are free to ask Him for anything as the Father’s child (v.26). Two of God’s precious promises are in v.33 but notice the challenge that goes along with them in the same verse. We cannot experience His overcoming grace without the promised tribulation.
Practice/Word Application
So what? The priesthood of all believers has not voided nor cancelled the ordination of some people in our churches as priests. It is a call to be in the forefront of Church work for special services in an orderly manner that glorifies God (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Meditate on v.33 and ask God to affirm to you His peace and victory over the world.

25 Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be. 26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky. 27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. 28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.
