Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 17 April 2023

From a humble beginning of seventy household members of Jacob’s family that migrated to Egypt, God raised a mighty nation within a space of four hundred and thirty years. Through powerful demonstration of His might, God rescued them from great bondage and oppression in Egypt.

Three months after their deliverance, God established a covenant with them at Mt Sinai as a nation set apart for Himself. Notice God’s purpose of making a covenant with Israel (v.5). The people unanimously agreed to the terms which required their total obedience and consecration (v.8). Did they mean what they promised? Do we too abide strictly by our promise to God? Time will tell.

At God’s demand, Moses consecrated the entire nation to meet with God in worship. Similarly, we, the New Testament believers, have been made a kingdom of priests and a holy nation to God through our salvation in Jesus Christ. We have been set apart for God (1 Peter 2:9).

Practice/Word Application
So what? Ensure to worship God in spirit and in truth and be absolutely obedient to Him.
