To know the secret of walking with God and to please Him in speech and conduct, and so live a life of integrity in the midst of a corrupt and godless people, is victory and peace. It is interesting to note that today’s passage, and every other verse of the entire chapter, contains at least one name that describes the word of God. Check the following verses for eight of such names – Psalms 119:1,2,4,7,8,13,9,15. What does each of these teach us about the role of God’s Word in our lives?
A longing for the word of God (Psalms 119:20) leads one to study, reflect on (Psalms 119:15) and memorize it (Psalms 119:11). Such a delight (Psalms 119:16) in the word settles in the heart and readily finds expression in obedience, recitation and praise (Psalms 119:12-13). Like Ezra (Ezra 7:10), we too should devote ourselves to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teach its decrees and laws to others.

Determine that you would study the word of God regularly, and prayerfully obey it.
