Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 22 March 2023
Full of God: Esther knew very well that she was “doomed to die unless the king holds out his gold scepter” (4:11). Her commitment was firm “I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die” (4:16). What gave her this unusual courage and commitment to take such a threatening risk on her personal life?
Here is a deep spiritual truth of all time – whoever spends quality prayer time in God’s presence, will have courage to stand in His purpose before men. Esther prepared before God with an intense three day fast, and “put on her royal robes” (5:1) to meet the King! Stop to reflect on vs.2-3. Will you consider this a coincidence or a God-incidence and why? What else can we learn from Esther about the step-by-step approach in presenting her request to the king (vs.4-8)?
Full of Self: We see such sharp contrast with Haman in this passage. He was full of himself boasting and bragging of his prosperity, power, and promotion. Sadly, his wife and friends joined in his hateful pride and prejudice that led to setting up the wicked 75m pole for his own destiny. We all need to be reminded that “pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).

Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, please teach me how to stand before you, to faithfully represent you before men.
