Daily Guide Devotional For Today 25 February 2024 (Sunday)

Do You Know That? Daily Guide Reading is published by Scripture Union Press & Books Ltd, an arm of Scripture Union Nigeria. Daily Guide is a true nondenominational, interdenominational Christian Bible engagement/reading aid – meditate on the Bible without denominational colorations. May the Lord bless you as you study!

Opening Prayer: Make my life oh Lord a reflection of you as I study your word.

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q7: What truth is God revealing to me in this passage?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 25th February 2024

How do you describe God in your understanding? In trying to answer that question, you will discover that God is indescribable. Trying to describe Him is difficult because our knowledge of Him is extremely limited. We are also constrained by our language. Isaiah asks an unanswerable question in v.25, “To whom then will you compare me; or who is my equal, says the Holy One”.

God has unlimited power, knowledge, vision, understanding, strength etc. None can compare with Him. The nations may seem to wield so much power and influence at various times, but they are as nothing before Him. Soon their power and influence vanish. The princes and powerful men who presume to dominate others would soon be people of the past (vs.22-24). How much are the foregoing reflected in the God you know and worship? How will a proper understanding of these give you a more effective message for others?

Meditate on vs.29-31. What assurance is there for us? We must learn never to rely on our strength to accomplish either our own plans or God’s work. We are to completely depend on this all-powerful God in all areas of our lives.

Practice/Word Application
Further meditation: List all the names of God that you know or have heard and take time to think about their meaning and praise Him.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds, which are fountains of goodness and love.

3. To all life thou givest, to both great and small;
in all life thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish but naught changeth thee.

4. Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all praise we would render, O help us to see
’tis only the splendor of light hideth thee.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
