Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 May 2023
As human beings, we experience a tension in our hearts. We know what is good and often want to do it, but instead we do the wrong thing we do not want to do. You decide to do what you know to be wrong, so you hide and do it out of sight of other people. You know it is wrong, but you do it anyway. It is as if your mind knows and wants to do the good that God wants but your old sinful self takes stronger control of you, and you do what you should not do. Note the source of such actions (vs.20, 22-23). How do I deal with such conflict in my inner self?
In v.25 Paul gives us the answer – a renewed mind through the Word of God. Victorious living is only possible through Jesus Christ, the one who has power over sin and can deal with such conflict in our hearts. We do not have to give in to our sinful nature. We can depend on the Lord Jesus for power to resist sin’s temptations.
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
Lord, by myself I cannot make it; help me win this battle against sin.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 68:35

THANK GOD FOR:
► Constantly reminding us to be heavenly minded as we replace our human thought with the truth of God’s word.
► The provision of the Bible that shapes our lives as we dwell upon the truth and principle.
PRAY FOR:
► Daily renewal of our minds as we spend uninterrupted time with God in prayer and studying His word.
► Grace to replace old attitudes, ideas and ways of thinking that do not reflect the reality of God’s word.
► Humility to allow God to expose things that are contrary in our lives and fill them up with His acceptable truth.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Refusing to allow God, replace the old with the expected new mind and spirit.
► Allowing the devil to fill our minds with his lies instead of letting God fill them with His word.
