TOPIC: GOD DETESTS FALSE WORSHIP
Opening Prayer:
Dear Lord, expose me to your truth as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 65:1-12

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 25 May 2024 Outline:

Isaiah had been praying concerning the situation of the people of Judah (Isaiah 63:7-64:12). Chapters 65 and 66 contain God’s response to his prayers.
The people had been asking, “Where is God?” (Isaiah 63:11, 15). God replies, “Here am I, here am I” (v.1). This is an indication that God has been there waiting for them with open hands all along. But His people had not responded.

Note, however, the people to which God revealed Himself (v.1)! How does the thought of God, stretching out His hands all day long, seeking after a rebellious people, make you feel (v.2)?
Read vs.3-4 again and note how God describes the rebellion of the people. Ironically, despite their false worship, they claimed to be holy (v.5a). God hates and punishes such hypocrisy (vs.5b-7). Unfortunately, in the days of Christ, the people also rejected Him and His word (see Luke 13:34).

Are we any different today? The consequences of false worship are grievous (vs.11-12). However, using the analogy of “cluster of grapes,” God promises to preserve a remnant (vs.8-10). What does this teach us about God?

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for your love for me. May I never treat it with contempt or take you for granted.

Prayer for the week
* Pray that God will uphold us, His people to the end as things continue to get worse in the world • Ask that He will daily quicken our mortal bodies that we might serve Him acceptably

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Exodus 33:14
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
