TODAY’S TOPIC: GOD WILL DELIVER HIS OWN FROM TROUBLE

Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, may the entrance of your word bring light and life to all I will do today.

SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 41:1-16

Question(s) for Reflection
• Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Q8: Is there any other Biblical passage that can help me understand this passage better?

Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 26th February 2024

Isaiah sends a warning to all nations of the impending judgment to be executed by a victorious king from the east (v.2). God promises to deliver His people, Israel, because He has chosen them and use a non-Israelite power, in this case, Cyrus the Persian King (44:28; 45:1).

Israel, the seed of Abraham, God’s friend, was His chosen nation (v.8). Now, all believers are brought into the family of God through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:12). We are God’s chosen people and can claim and enjoy protection from God our father (1 Peter 2:9). What encouragement do you see in v.9? V.10 gives great assurances to the Christian as God’s people – Fear not, I am with you, do not be discouraged. Find out other assurances in this verse. Our God knows how to deal with those who hate and wage war against you. Read again and meditate on the great assurances God gives in vs.11-16. Do you have confidence of God’s guidance and protection in your life today? John reminds us that the One who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Closing Prayer
Turn Philippians 2:9-11 to prayer.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with 2 Chronicles 14:11
“And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.”
