Opening Prayer: Oh Lord, grant me divine guidance as I read and meditate on your word in Jesus name.
Scripture: Psalm 123:1–4
Reflection
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
MESSAGE: Scripture Union Daily Guide 27th December 2020
Observe the main thing the Psalmist desires from God. We all need the mercy of God in a world that is full of evil, violence and uncertainties. Men are getting increasingly wicked and they despise the godly people who seek to follow God.
We need the mercy of God for deliverance from the wicked, to help us live lives that please him and not to live in sin and be in tune with a crooked world. God has called us to live in holiness and be separated from the world.
In prayer, believers look up to God for divine intervention and for his hand to rule in our affairs by directing us, supplying our needs, protecting us from danger, correcting/disciplining us when we go astray and blessing us. Are you pressed into a corner of need? Keep on looking to the hand of God our Father in heaven.
Never look down to the earth of evil and fallen creation or sideways to fellow human beings no matter how prominent and powerful they may appear to be.

Practice/Word Application:
• And So: Let us put our hope in God and in him alone.
ADVERSITY: Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ does not promise us trouble–free Christian life but He promises to sustain us no matter what happens. Trouble and stress may come to us at one time or the other in life but when we sincerely and faithfully trust in Him, He gives us enough grace and strength to go through such times.
Christian journey is not always predicted but it is a road to be walked in faith, with the understanding that God is with us.
Prayer:
• Spend time to pray for God’s grace and mercy as you step into the new day!
• Pray that the lesson of the cross which is sacrificial giving of self, will help you to offer sacrificial service.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with Philippians 3:10
