Opening Prayer:
Dear Lord, grant me understanding and illumination as I ponder on your word in Jesus name.

Question(s) for Reflection
* Q 1: What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
* Q2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
* Q5: Is there any warning for me to heed?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 May 2024 Outline:

The prophecy of Isaiah winds up with a solemn reminder of inescapable judgment on the ungodly and reward for the godly. God will bring salvation, peace, and prosperity upon Jerusalem (vs.12-14b). This is a picture of the reward of eternal bliss that the believers will enjoy in the new heaven and new earth (vs.22-23; cf. Revelation 21:1; 2 Peter 3:13).

On the other hand, the wicked will be judged. Read vs.14c-17 again and identify words that signify judgment, e.g., fire, fury, etc. Teachings about judgment are not popular in our generation. But whether men are comfortable with it or not, God’s final and inescapable judgment is imminent (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9). God’s judgment will come on all nations (v.18; Revelation 19:17-18). Everyone who rejects Christ will be damned eternally (v.24; Revelation 20:15).

But God does not want anyone to perish (1 Timothy 2:1-4; 2 Peter 3:9). Instead, He wants people of all nations to worship Him and even serve as His priests and Levites (v.21). Therefore, He commissioned Israel to proclaim His glory to the gentiles (vs.19-21). Which regions of the world are listed in v.19? Note that this is the same assignment that Christ gave us in Matthew 28:19-20.

Practice/Word Application
So What? How are you participating in the proclamation of the Good News, so that men will accept Christ and be saved from the coming judgment?

* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Thank you, dear Lord, for saving me from the coming judgment by your mercy. Give me fresh grace every day, to proclaim the Good News to others.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Deuteronomy 7:9
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”
