Outline For Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 May 2023

Paul proclaims the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus by which the sinner is declared righteous before God and made right with Him: by faith in and grace from Jesus Christ. Regarding human sin, how extensive is the problem of human unrighteousness (v.23)? Today’s passage is one of the most important texts in the entirety of the Protestant Reformation. It has been summarized as:

i.Scripture Alone – only the Bible reveals the Gospel completely and perfectly, not the traditions or thoughts of men (vs.21,27-28).
ii.Grace Alone – we are saved from the penalty of our sin solely by God’s grace, not our own efforts (vs.23-26).
iii.Faith Alone – we are saved from the penalty of our sin solely by placing faith in Jesus (vs.21-22, 28).
iv.Christ Alone – we are saved from the penalty of our sin by Jesus alone, not by anyone or anything else in addition to or in place of Christ (vs.22-25).

We are to give glory, thanks, and praise to God alone for our salvation. Religious people try to earn their righteousness with human efforts (vs.27-28).

For Reflection
Reflection: Whatever things or practices you are depending on to earn a right standing before God are useless. Discard them now.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
Thank you for purchasing my salvation by your death, Lord Jesus. May all men embrace this good news for the salvation of their souls.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Matthew 24:46

PRAYER FOCUS: OPEN DOORS
I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door no man can close… – Revelations 3: 8

THANK GOD FOR:
► Being our door keeper who alone can open doors no man can shut in our lives.
► Closing dangerous doors that lead to danger and protecting us against entering them.

PRAY FOR:
► Grace to know and abide in His will as we await the doors He will open for us this year.
► Spiritual strength to reject compromises or contradictions even as we believe Him for open doors.
► Open doors and answers to prayers that will strengthen our faith and prayer life.

PRAY AGAINST:
► Allowing obstacles that will keep us away from the will of God for our lives.
► Losing confidence in God because of hardship instead of continuing in faith and waiting for the promised breakthrough
