Scripture Union Daily Guide 7 May 2024 OUTLINE
The prophet foretold the coming of the Messiah and the things He would suffer for the salvation of mankind. Notice His humble beginning (53:2). The Messiah had to go through many things in order to save man. What are some of those things (52:14,15; 53:3, 4b-5, 8-10a)? Note in particular, His dumbness in 53:7 – completely obedient unto death though undeserved. Is there any personal lesson for you here? Thank God that all His suffering was to yield eternally glorious result for all who would accept Him. Notice these results in 53:11-12. Through His suffering also, He is forever glorified (Philippians 2:8-11).
The Lord laid the example for us that we should follow in His steps (1 Peter 2:21). Are you a believer who thinks that the Christian life is only a bed of roses? You may be missing out. Just like our master, we should expect to share in His suffering as we partake of His joy. Remember that it will cost you something to follow in His steps as we communicate the gospel to others. Are we ready to pay the prize and follow in Christ’s steps?
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer
Lord, give me the grace to pay the prize that others may know you.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Psalms 102:17
“He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.”
