Can you imagine your President riding on a motorcycle to visit your city? In Jesus’ time, kings and rulers rode on horses depicting majesty and power but Jesus chose to ride triumphantly into Jerusalem on borrowed donkey. The Lord here consistently showed humility – from the nature of His birth, His public ministry, to His death on the cross. As Christians, we must humble ourselves in whatever we do because whoever or whatever we are is purely by God’s grace. Remember that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).

The disciples Jesus sent to bring the donkey and the colt did exactly what He told them to do and the owner of the donkeys readily released them. We too must learn to carry out any instructions we find in His word as we meditate on it or as the Holy Spirit prompts us. This is the key to successful Christian living. The triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem fulfilled Old Testament prophesy (v.5, c.f. Zechariah 9:9). God will surely fulfil all the promises He makes concerning our lives. Let us rejoice and praise God for His faithfulness.

Closing Prayer
• Prayer: Just as the crowd in Jerusalem praised God at this occasion, Lord endow me with the spirit of humility and praise.
• Thank God for your place of work/business/study.
