SEEDS OF DESTINY TUESDAY 15 MARCH 2022 SOD DEVOTIONAL
TODAY’S TOPIC: THE GAME OF LIFE, HOW ARE YOU PLAYING IT?
SCRIPTURE: And athletes cannot win the prize unless they follow the rules. 2 Timothy 2:5, NLT.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: How you live determines whether you will win or lose in life.

On the Christmas day of the year 1994, I was on call at a teaching hospital when I was practising Medicine as a young medical doctor. A young man was brought in dead. He was riding a motorcycle in the night on that Christmas day. The motorcycle had no light, and no brake and he was drunk. What a game!
Maybe he played such a game before and won but not on that day. He rode straight and collided with an oncoming Mercedes Benz car, and then died on the spot. He was brought to the Accident and Emergency Unit dead, smelling of alcohol. That is, he drank liquid hell to assist him end in eternal hellfire. He was taken straight to the mortuary. He played the game of life but unfortunately to lose. His game was a loss. He lost in time and then lost eternally in eternity.
Life is a game. It is a game like a football match. How you live determines whether you will win or lose in the game of life. Your living determines your winning or losing chances. Whatever we do in life is a transaction. In life, there are losers and winners. For example, Esau lived to lose and Jacob lived to win. For the satisfaction of his appetite, Esau sold his birth right. He got the meal of a day and lost the right of a lifetime.
Many times, people try to gain something and lose something. Someone lived recklessly and got HIV/AIDS. The question is, did the pleasure he got justify the HIV/AIDS?
Beloved, life is a game. As we live, we are playing a game. My counsel is, play to win, not to lose. Live to win. Do the things that will make you win, not what will make you a loser in time and a loser in eternity.
Remember this: How you live determines whether you will win or lose in life.

1. Answer these questions: How are you living? Are you playing to win or lose at the end of time?
2. Make demands on God’s help for daily upright living.
3. Take out time from your schedule. Go on a periodic fast to deepen your intimacy with God.
PRAYER: Lord, I take up the Cross, let it crucify the flesh. Let it be no longer I that live; let Jesus Christ live in and through me, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

AMAZING FACT: A female dolphin will assist in the birth of another’s baby dolphin, and if it is a difficult birth, the “midwife” might help pull out the baby. Other dolphins, including bulls, will swim around the mother during birth to protect her. What a lesson to show love and care.
