TOPIC: WALK IN WISDOM
SCRIPTURE: “2. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:” (Matthew 25: 2-3)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of why there was a dichotomy within the ranks of the ten virgins. Five of the virgins were wise while another five were foolish. Five were given to wisdom while another five were not interested in wisdom but rather chose foolishness. They were all virgins; they all had character; they all had lamps; they were all light carriers; but wisdom was missing in five of them. So there were five light bearers that were fools.
Friend, did you know that it is possible to have character, and even be a light bearer, but still lack wisdom for living? Did you know that it is possible to be shining currently, but lack the wisdom for longevity in relevance? Did you know that the light of God in you is not an excuse for you to lack wisdom? Did you know that character without wisdom will still make you irrelevant in destiny? Did you know that light does not replace wisdom?
In 2023, open your heart to the wisdom of God. Open your heart to glean wisdom from the wise. Be sensitive to know the examples to follow and the ones to ignore. Be sensitive to know when your preparation is not enough for the greatness you desire. Be sensitive to discern the moments when you are simply not enough within you though you are still shining. Be wise enough to know what your generation needs you to carry.
Anyone who saw the ten virgins all walking together with their lamps would imagine that they were all wise; but it was just a matter of time before the foolishness of the foolish was revealed. They even had the company of the wise, but failed to learn from the wisdom of the wise. In 2023, as you see wisdom being expressed, be wise to learn from the wise. Don’t take your examples from those who are also as unwise as you are.
2023 is making a demand for you to be wise; don’t show up with foolishness.
Ephesians 5: 15 says: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,”
