CATHOLIC DAILY DEVOTIONAL TODAY 16 MARCH 2022
TODAY’S TOPIC: LIFELINE
SCRIPTURE: I hear the whispers of the crowd, that frighten me from every side… Psalm 31:14
The psalmist is frightened by the crowds around him. He senses their mounting threats to harm him. In his fear, he turns to God, his lifeline. He trusts that God understands him, that God is more powerful than his amassing enemies, and that God alone can rescue him.
Do you find yourself refraining from certain words or actions because of what others might think? Do their reactions cause you to feel hurt or slighted? These days the “whispers of the crowd” might be Facebook or other social media posts, or derogatory comments within a family or among friends. Sometimes we find it all too easy to judge others and the way they go about living their lives. Are we part of the whispering crowd that threatens others’ well-being? Rather, should we stop commenting on how they live their lives, leaving their destinies and ours in God’s hands?
In your hands, Lord, I place every concern.
