ANGLICAN DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL FOR 24 MARCH 2022

TOPIC: HUMBLE YOURSELF BEFORE GOD

TEXT: Exodus 10

Anglican Daily Fountain 24th March 2022 | STUDY

This chapter records the eighth (locust) dad ninth (darkness) plagues of Egypt. The locust invasion was very severe and unprecedented, neither before nor after, was any such experienced. The Locust covered the face of the whole earth within the territory of Egypt and the land-was, darkened but none of such was experienced in Goshen. The locust ate up (gleaned) sprouting vegetation and what remained from the hail.

Then the officers of Pharaoh prevailed on him to let the people go before Egypt crumbles. As a result, he gave an unacceptable proposal for only the men to go, all in a bid to obey God on his own terms. Moses refused and God filled the land of Egypt with locust as declared by his servant. The ninth plague was thick darkness “that may even be felt” (v.21), which lasted for three consecutive days that the Egyptians could not see one another.

Pharaoh got very angry, threatened and drove Moses out of his sight. He indeed tested and stretched the goodness of God by his stubbornness. But Pharaoh’s pride would not let him bow and accept the power of God. Many proud people are like Pharaoh, who do not accept when they are wrong and when others are right. God exalts the humble and brings down the proud (James 4.6). Do not let pride stop you from enjoying God’s blessings.

Prayer: O Lord, please remove any spirit of pride and stubbornness in me and create in me a humble and willing heart.
