Anglican Daily Fountain 28 September 2023 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: GOD WILL NOT SPARE A SINNER

TEXT: Hosea 7:8-16(KJV)
7:8. Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
7:9. Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
7:10. And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

7:11. Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
7:12. When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
7:13. Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

7:14. And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.
7:15. Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.
7:16. They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

Anglican Daily Fountain 28 September 2023 STUDY:

In our text, GOD is fed up with Ephraim. He will no longer tolerate his pride and arrogance. Unfortunately, one of the greatest tragedies of our time is hardness of heart against GOD and His call to us for repentance. When we become obstinate in our sins, we incur the wrath of GOD: Destruction, chastisement, and pain come upon anyone who moves away from GOD into the world. Brethren, we serve a loving and forgiving Father who shows mercy; who pardons sins and iniquities when we repent with sincerity of heart. His door of mercy, pardon and forgiveness through Christ is open to all irrespective of race or colour, tribe or greed. Yet, He will not condone sin and unrepentant children.

We must seek God and ask Him to forgive us our sins, the sins of the Church and the country. We are hopeless without His mercies and therefore must seek Him genuinely. Are there certain sins in your life? Are you stubborn in your heart, refusing the prompting of the Holy Spirit to forsake your evil ways? We must return now to Him or face a dreadful consequence of our sins. We must repent or perish.

PRAYER: Father, please forgive my sins and sanctify me with your word. Save me from destruction, O lord. Amen.
