Anglican Daily Fountain 29th February 2024 (Devotional Today)

Welcome to Today’s Daily Fountain Devotional of the Anglican Church of Nigeria. Daily Fountain is a daily reading devotional for all Anglicans and Non-Anglicans to read, study, share and discuss the Word of God on a daily basis.

TOPIC: LONGING FOR GOD

TEXT: Psalm 63: 1-11(KJV)
63:1. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
63:2. To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
63:3. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
63:4. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
63:5. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

63:6. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
63:7. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
63:8. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
63:9. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
63:10. They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
63:11. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

Anglican Daily Fountain 29th February 2024 STUDY:

In our text today, King David chose God and decided he would seek Him early, thirst for Him, long for Him, look out for Him, praise Him with his lips, bless Him while alive, lift up his hands and be satisfied with Him. Whenever he remembered God, he meditated on Him on his bed at night. He rejoiced because God was helping and upholding him. He wished death for his enemies but would rejoice and glory in God.

The Bible says that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled (Matt. 5: 6). People hunger for food and thirst for water. In the same way, Christians should long and thirst after God’s righteousness. This can be done by spending time in the study of the word, meditating on it and praying always. Do you hunger and thirst for God? Do you have a personal relationship with him? In times like this, believers need to be closer and obedient to God. Decide now to seek the Lord with all your heart and to praise Him for His goodness and mercies to you and your family. Do you wish death for your enemies? Jesus bids you to love them and also to pray for them(Matt.5: 44-45).

PRAYER: Grant me the grace to seek you early every day and rejoice in your presence, Amen.
