Bible Verse of the Day, Monday 17th March 2025
Opening Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of communication and the power of words. Teach us to speak with wisdom, kindness, and grace. Help us to use our words to build others up, reflecting Your love and compassion. As we meditate on Your Word today, transform our hearts so that what overflows from our mouths brings life and encouragement. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Bible Verse: Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
Short Message:
Words have power — they can either build up or tear down. Paul reminds us that as followers of Christ, our speech should reflect God’s grace. Unwholesome talk doesn’t just mean foul language; it includes gossip, criticism, and negativity. Instead, we are called to speak words that encourage, uplift, and meet the needs of others. When we choose words carefully, we become instruments of God’s love, bringing hope and healing to those around us.
Lessons:
1. Guarding Our Speech: We must be mindful of what we say, ensuring our words align with God’s truth and love.
2. Speaking Life: Our words should bring encouragement and edify those who hear them, pointing others toward Christ.
3. Listening with Compassion: Knowing people’s needs helps us speak in ways that truly benefit them, not just what we want to say.
4. Reflecting Christ’s Character: How we speak is a reflection of our heart — when we abide in Christ, our words naturally bear His kindness and grace.
Bible References:
Proverbs 18:21 — “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Colossians 4:6 — “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
Matthew 12:36-37 — “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
James 3:9-10 — “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”
Closing Prayer:
Lord, We surrender our words to You. Help us to guard our speech and use it to bring life, not harm. Fill our hearts with Your love so that what flows from our mouths reflects Your grace and truth. Teach us to encourage, uplift, and be a voice of kindness in a world that so often speaks harshly. May our words be a light that points others to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
