Bible Verse of the Day October 20, 2026: Psalm 73:26
“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.” (Psalm 73:26, KJV)
Meaning of the Verse
The psalmist is honest. His body and his heart can fail. But he does not stop there. He turns to God as his steady source of strength and his lasting inheritance.
“My flesh and my heart faileth”
Tiredness, illness, disappointment and emotional exhaustion are real. Faith does not deny them.
“God is the strength of my heart”
When our own strength runs out, God becomes the strength inside us. He does not only help from outside. He sustains us from within.
“And my portion for ever”
A “portion” is a share or inheritance. Even when other things fade, God remains ours, today and forever.
Context
Asaph wrote Psalm 73 while struggling with envy and confusion about why the wicked seemed to prosper. His perspective changed when he entered God’s presence (verse 17). By verse 26, he has found stability in God Himself.
How to Apply It Today
- Be honest with God about where you feel worn out.
- Say aloud, “God is the strength of my heart.”
- Encourage someone who is tired, and remind them they are not alone.
Short Prayer
Lord, when my strength fails, be the strength of my heart. Thank You that You are my portion forever. Amen.
