Bible Verse Reading for Saturday 12th April 2025 – 1 Corinthians 14:14
“For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.”
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of prayer and the deep connection it gives us to You. Today, as we reflect on Your Word, we ask for clarity and understanding. Teach us to pray in the Spirit, and help us to grow in spiritual discernment and maturity. Let us worship You not just with emotion, but also with wisdom and awareness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Short Message
In this verse, Paul is teaching the church in Corinth about the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. He explains that when we pray in tongues, it is our spirit communicating with God, but our mind does not grasp what is being said. This shows the mystery and depth of spiritual communication—it goes beyond intellect and taps into a realm of faith and intimacy with God.
However, Paul is also emphasizing the importance of understanding in worship. While praying in the Spirit is powerful, it’s also essential to engage both our heart and mind, especially in public worship, so that others are edified and we ourselves grow in knowledge and faith.
This verse challenges us to seek balance—spiritual fervor and mental engagement, emotion and understanding, spirit and truth.
